WORLD ADVENTURES BUSINESS LIFT CLARIFICATION

CLARIFICATION: Business via World Adventures

There was some confusion around what you can and can't do with the items you collect during your adventures when completing Business via the Multinational Conglomerate (WA) method.

These items essentially amount to your "pay" for doing the job. So you can ONLY "sell" them when you return home each week. You never get to keep them with the exception of any gnomes you might stumble across while abroad.

So we clarified it to say that in a more straight forward fashion instead of a round about fashion. And while in France check out the fashions!!!

UNIVERSITY START CLARIFICATION

TOURNAMENT CLARIFICATION: UNIVERSITY STARTS

We haven't changed any rules so don't panic! We just 'clarified' them....but that might mean to you that we changed them...but I promise we didn't...

We reorganized the new Uni Start options on the University Life page to help better understand what you could and couldn't do and when you could and couldn't do it...Soooo...

If you want to do a Uni Start, whether Higher Education or How Much Time Do I Have? then this should help you understand what you can and can't do and when you can and can't do it along with what you can and can't do when you come home....AND....if another sim other than the founder goes what they can and can't do and when they can and can't do it....Ugh....

Now that that is all cleared up....I used that twice in a row... is that allowed????

AGE POTIONS AND 90 DAY RULE REMOVAL

RULE UPDATE: AGE REVERSING POTIONS AND 90 DAY RULE FIX

We have been struggling with how to manage long-lived occults and aging potions. In the past we implemented a 90-day kick out rule. We are dispensing with that rule. This is how we are going to do that:

NEW RULE: No sim in the current household may use the Young Again Potion, Young Again LTR, Fountain of Youth Elixir or Ambrosia to reverse their age. You MAY use it on any NPC sim or a sim that is married into the household on the FIRST day they become a part of the household.
Ambrosia may be used on non-playable ghosts only to resurrect them.

These potions/elixirs will all be restricted by Paranormal as well as other restrictions. The full list of restrictions around when you can use or make these items has been updated on the applicable sections of the Wiki and will be in the final spreadsheets that will be uploaded on Wednesday.

Note: Eating Life Fruit or Drinking from the Fountain of Youth is not included in this restriction. Only Ambrosia and the three potions.

90 DAY RULE FIX: We have established a table for using the Birthday Cake to age up sims according to which Occult Setup you chose. You will find this table in each Occult Category.
For example: you are playing Somewhere Over the Rainbow and you move in or even start with a vampire, you will have to age up your vampire to Elder with the Birthday Cake when they are 65 days to Adult. This means they will have two birthdays on the same day. Should they come in older than 65 days to Adult, then they must be aged up immediately to Elder by using the Birthday Cake twice unless you happen to have one of the age reversal potions or ambrosia to feed them.


Communications: Jack of All Trades Update

We realized the Base Game method - Jack of All Trades - was too difficult to clear in a reasonable amount of time so we tweaked it a bit. The new method is as follows:

NRAAS MODS Save Your Settings

TOURNAMENT ANNOUNCEMENT: MODS

NRAAS CLARIFICATION

One of our own, has informed me that not only is it possible to save your nraas setting so you don't have to redo it every time you start a new game and she also told me how!

  • From city hall or a computer, choose nraas , then overwatch, then immediate, then export settings.
  • Then it will ask which settings you want to save. If you choose all, it will save the settings for all your nraas mods. Then it will ask you to name your save.
  • You will see the settings as a blank family the next time you're in edit town looking at your households. You don't do anything with it, it's just where it's saved.
  • Then you go back and instead of choosing overwatch, choose story progression. Then choose general options, then export settings and save them.
  • Then, when you start a new game, go to overwatch and choose import instead of export and pick the file you saved for all the settings.
  • Then do the same for story progression. Do overwatch first because it can erase the SP settings.

Master Thief and Spouses

MASTER THIEF RULE CLARIFICATION REGARDING SPOUSES:

9/25/16

Currently the rule around spouses being moved in by marriage that already have a job states that they aren't forced to quit the job due to the forced days off for marriage...which leaves one to assume they quit if you want them to without actually saying it. We added a line in the Base Game rules for Master Thief that states: "Spouses MAY quit (but are not required to) on the first day they enter the household."

NETWORK VISITATION RIGHTS

RULE CLARIFICATION REGARDING NETWORK LOTS


There was ambiguity and contradictions in the Wiki around visiting lots in your Network. We have reworded the Setup Page as it relates to visiting your Network and Athletic page as it relates to jogging in an attempt to make it clear what you can and can't do on your Non Rabbithole Community Lot versus your Rabbithole Community Lot.

So you don't have to search for it I have recapped below:

Non-Rabbithole Community Lots: You may not visit them AT all until their governing restrictions are clear. For example, to visit the Library you must have Journalism clear, for the Gym - Athletics. This includes jogging to them.

Rabbithole Community Lots: You may visit them or jog to them, collect rocks etc on them. You MAY do any pop up opportunities that require you to visit the lot as long as they don't break other restrictions such as delivering food if you haven't yet cleared Culinary. Work opportunities are generally not restricted. You may NOT perform activities within the building that are specifically restricted such as registering as self-employed at the City Hall if Politics isn't clear, WooHooing in the building if Medical isn't clear...you get the picture...

PET UPDATES

In an effort to better incorporate Pets into the challenge, we added caring for Pets as an alternate step in clearing Naturalist. We have also added an Ending Requirement where you must have a surviving pet of the bloodline on the lot at the end of the challenge.

After much testing we have decided to relax the rules around owning Cats and Dogs and how you can get breeding partners for them.

Essentially, we have eliminated Education as a prerequisite for training Pets and Military as a prerequisite for Cats and Dogs to hunt. Pets take a lot of extra effort to manage, take up space in your cramped home and take up slots that you might want to have available for spares. So as a trade-off we will allow you to train your Pets to hunt and you may adopt Pets from the shelter so you can provide a mate to breed your with your Pet in order to produce an heir.

We have also added ways to get 'rid' of unwanted or needed pets.

UNIVERSITY LIFE UPDATES

    RULE CLARIFICATIONS - University Life

    9/15/2016

    We updated University Life section of the wiki and made following changes:
  • Dorms may still have up to 5 levels even though the new Architect restriction only allows 2.
  • Founders are no longer allowed to upload their resume after finishing the University. They already chose their job before enrolling so they can just walk to the required rabbithole to get it.
  • Your founder is allowed to use his/her smartphone to enroll to University even if you take "What Are Cellphones?" handicap.
  • If you take "I'm Sorry, You're Overqualified." handicap, you have to create your founder first, then roll for your job.
  • If you get a meteor strike while at University, you may take the meteor to the School of Science on campus instead of Science Facility in your home world in order to unlock its benefits.
  • "The Eyes Have It" handicap is incompatible with "Green Revolution" (Plant sims)
  • Plant sims may not photosynthesize before Symphonics is lifted.


We would also like to clarify that you ARE allowed to delete or move into family inventory any NPC graves that land on your lot even if Paranormal hasn't been lifted.

BIG PARK CLARIFICATION

Big Park Clarification

9/14/2016

We will not be allowing the Performance stage to be part of your Big Park in Network. You can now audition for a performance at any outside venue at any time during work hours with a Showtime career. This will not be restricted by Military.

Should you build your park, you are not limited to the 8X8 area nor are you required to build on a foundation or stilts.

Showtime career rules will be clarified in the wiki within the next few days. And remember that we have a blog that will be kept updated with rule changes!

We updated rules for Showtime performer careers as there seems to be a lot of uncertainty and confusion because they were never properly defined:
  • You may not perform for tips off your home lot. -Restricted by Business and Espionage
  • You may only perform gigs if you get an Opportunity to do so. You may not ask a Proprietor to get a gig without the Opportunity. -Restricted by Espionage and Entertainment
  • You may only perform at outdoor venues. -Restricted by Entertainment
  • You may only leave your Network to perform work-related opportunities. You may not do anything else while there. -Restricted by Military
  • You must always follow the curfew when doing your job. The only exception are scheduled gigs. -Restricted by Military
  • Sing-a-grams may only be performed on household members and relatives unless it's a work order. -Restricted by Business and Espionage
  • Magician tricks may only be performed on household members or relatives except for performances. -Restricted by Business and Espionage
  • If you completely miss a scheduled gig, you have to quit your job....Restricted by Master Thief

Overall Rule Changes from Spring Tourney

Rule Changes and Restriction Updates 

Tournament starts October 1st, 2016 and ends January 1st, 2017


  1. Default start: Founder does not go to the University and you can choose your starting lift without having to roll.
  2. Prestige occults were removed and the occult bloodlines were made into advantages and handicaps. Before you start you are required to choose what occult type your bloodline will follow or whether you want an option of mixed bloodline. There are no restrictions on spouses or breeding partners unless you take an additional breeding handicap.
  3. Major overhaul of Advantages/Handicaps section. We created many new advantages and handicaps you can choose from and removed some of the old ones. You can take as many as you want but there is a cap of +40 total points.
  4. Universal rules:
    • Simbots and Imaginary Friends are now allowed in your family. Imaginary Friends may not be turned real before they reach Young Adult age. Then you are free to marry them.
    • Dusty Old Lamp is now allowed to use if you find it during the game as well as the LTW. It is restricted by Paranormal and you are allowed to make your wishes (some of them are restricted - see Playing Supernatural Sims for further info) and even set the Genie free.
    • Founders doing University start are not allowed to spend any money at home between terms.
    • If you bring a comfy bed from the University, you may NOT use it until you lift Paranormal/Criminal.
    • To finish the challenge you are not only required to lift all the mandatory restrictions but also complete one of the new Ending Requirements
    • You are now allowed to either delete or move ITF portal when it spawns on your lot. You can only move it ONE TIME during your initial house building. If you decide to move it, it must follow all restrictions on object placement currently in place. After that, you may not move it again until you lift Athletics.
  5. Restriction updates:
    • Architect: You are only allowed to build TWO levels of your house.
    • Athletics:
      • Base Game requirements were lowered to level 8 Professional Sports career.
      • Athletics now restricts you to only using Basic Training tone when working out.
    • Business: You can buy a maximum of 7 items per week, and a maximum of 14 of each build category per week. Your quota resets Monday each week at midnight and does not accumulate.
    • Criminal: Now restricts mooching money.
    • Culinary:
      • Restricts mooching food.
      • Doesn’t limit rummaging through trash anymore, but you may not keep any food items you find that way.
      • If Naturalist is lifted, you may cook anything that doesn’t require a stove.
      • Fire pit is not restricted anymore. You may grill one marshmallow as your one meal per day. After Naturalist you may also grill fish, fruits and veggies over the fire pit.
      • Your daily rations are changed to 1 meal per day for your sims AND 1 meal per day for your pets. One meal for pets means either filling a pet bowl or feeding fish in an aquarium.
    • Education:
      • Your children are required to go to school and must not be late. If they are late or skip the school entirely, you get a blooper.
      • Children must always Work Hard at school until their lesson ends or they get overworked and switch to Normal automatically. They may not use any other “work” tones, including working on their homework.
      • Now restricts teen driving.
      • Removed restriction on how many meals a teen can cook per day.
    • Entertainment:
      • Doesn’t restrict teen driving anymore.
      • Restricts using Toy Oven.
    • Espionage: You may not interact with children outside of your household unless you are visiting their house. Children can’t go anywhere. If they autonomously visit your lot, you must send them away.
    • Gamer:
      • Renamed to Communications
      • Rummaging through trash and dumpster diving is not restricted anymore, but you are not allowed to keep any restricted stuff you may find.
      • Base game method of the lift changed to:
        1. Max Logic/Charisma/Writing
        2. Get to level 4 in Science, Business, and Criminal
        3. Complete all Charisma Skill Challenges
    • Master Thief:
      • We would like to make it clear that being accidentally late for work is not an accidental rule break. You don’t get a blooper for that, but the rules require you to quit. It’s not possible to take a blooper and keep your job!
      • If you get demoted on your job you must immediately quit.
    • Medical:
      • Shower in a can is restricted. You may not buy them, use them or bring them home until Medical is clear. There are no exceptions.
    • Military:
      • You may not interact with children outside of your household unless you are visiting their house. Children can’t go anywhere. If they autonomously visit your lot, you must send them away.
      • Zombie days are no longer associated with Military restriction.
    • Naturalist:
      • Prerequisites were removed. Naturalist can now be lifted even with a founder.
      • Science requirement for Ecological Theory step was lowered to level 7.
      • Naturalist no longer restricts pets breeding.
      • Collecting seeds is not restricted. Anyone can collect them, but only the sim working on Naturalist lift is allowed to plant them.
      • Alchemy skill is not restricted by Naturalist anymore and you are allowed to make elixirs with ingredients bought in Elixir store.
      • Sculpting Topiary is not restricted.
      • Sims are NOT allowed to make snowmen or snow angels.
    • Paranormal:
      • Once you lift Paranormal, anything at the Elixir Store can be purchased and used regardless of other restrictions still in effect (although you DO need to lift Business in order to visit the store).
      • On Zombie nights you may not be outside at all. If your home is on stilts you may not go outside to move to another floor (ie. from basement to above-ground floors and vice versa).
    • Politics:
      • Your sims may not use Funny interactions.
      • Your sims may not ask for promotions or rises.
  6. Optional Clears:
    • They do not earn you any points but can be lifted along with another regular restriction.
    • Advanced Technology restriction was removed.
    • Most prerequisites for Optional Clears were dropped.
    • Alien Technology no longer awards points. Instead, it will unlock the Lifetime Reward special items without any further restrictions, so you can use them right away.
      • Lifting Alien Technology will also grant you a privilege to add 15 more days to your Young Adult life span settings while also expanding the time limits for long-lived sims to 90 days until uncontrollable and 105 days until forced to move out.
      • Meteor method of Alien Technology lift has been changed. Surviving a meteor strike will no longer grant you a free AT lift. Instead, it will allow you to skip certain requirements in other methods.
  7. Bonus Point categories:
    • Copious Librarian was changed. It now composes of two parts - Collecting books from work opportunities and spouse inventories, but capped much lower than the original one used to be, and writing Masterpieces (a genre unlocked at 10 level Writing after you write 25 other books).
    • Many new bonus point categories were added.
    • Points are now capped low enough to provide some variety for even base game players. You are no longer pushed to complete everything as it is no longer used for tie breaking.
  8. Scoring:
    • The base score is 19, 1 point for each regular restriction lifted.
    • Points from Handicaps/Advantages are capped at +40.
    • Bonus points are capped at +250.
    • There is a new scoring component called Time Modifier, which is counted as 300-xxx (xxx being total number of sim days it took you to finish the challenge). The resulting number may come out negative if you exceed 300 days.
    • Bloopers:
      • You can make up to 20 accidental rule breaks before you fail the challenge.
      • First 5 are free, but every additional blooper after that is penalised by -1 point.
    • Restarts:
      • Quitting without saving and returning to an older save is now allowed only once per game. It will also cost you -5 points. After that, no more restarting from previous saves unless your game glitches to the point where mods and cheats don’t help. If it makes you fail, then you failed.
    • “Perfect score”:
      • The “perfect score” cap was entirely removed!
      • The Time Modifier should make enough variety so there will be no ties.
      • If we still get two players with identical total score, there will be no additional tie breaking and they will share their place. But we believe it’s not very likely to happen.
